BLACK SWAN SKIRT

For this piece, I wanted to explore the ideas of perfection and control in an apparel piece. Immediately I thought about the metaphor of the black swan. The unexpected and sometimes craziness that can come from too much control, and loss of control. Ballet itself involves so much control that I wanted to incorporate it. I sewed a skirt with three pleats in the front and the back, then I silk screened my panel designs onto the pleats. Finally, I photographed a ballerina wearing the skirt.
